2021.
It was the start of a new year and Olumide was feeling motivated.
He had always been a goal-oriented person.
But this year he was determined to make real progress.
So what did he do?
He sat down with a blank piece of paper and a pen and started to think about what he really wanted to achieve.
After some reflection...
He came up with a list of three goals:
- To improve her physical fitness
- To save money for a down payment on a house and
- To learn a new skill.
Olumide knew that setting goals were just the first step.
He needed to have a plan in place to make sure he stayed on track.
So, he broke each of her goals down into smaller tasks and made a schedule for himself.
First, he signed up for a gym membership.
Next, he set a budget for her spending.
And then enrolled in a cooking class. (Men can cook too)
As the weeks went by, Olumide found that having clear goals in place was helping him to stay focused and motivated.
He was making progress on all three of his goals and was feeling proud of himself.
By the end of the year, Olumide had achieved all three of his goals.
He was in the best shape of his life.
He had saved up a large amount of money.
Plus he had learned how to make a variety of delicious dishes.
He couldn't believe how far he had come in just one year...
And was already thinking about what she wanted to do next year.
Be like Olumide.
Will you?
If you say yes,
Then here are some tips for setting effective goals in 2023
- Make sure your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This will help to ensure that your goals are clear and achievable.
- Write your goals down and review them regularly. This will help to keep you accountable and on track.
- Break your goals down into smaller, more manageable tasks. This will make it easier to make progress and stay motivated.
- Share your goals with a supportive friend, family member, or coworker. Having someone to cheer you on and provide encouragement can be a great motivator.
I want you to take some time to think about your goals for the year ahead and how you can work towards achieving them.
Remember, any goal that's not written down on a piece of paper is just a "wish" and may never manifest.
So get a good bleeding pen and handwrite down your goals this year.
Do that before the end of this week.
Will you do that?
I hope you'll do it.
I really hope.
